WATCH: Re-elected Sean O'Brien takes his seat in count centre!

Record personal vote for experienced Tullamore representative

MOMENTS after his re-election to Offaly County Council was confirmed with his highest ever personal vote, Tullamore man Sean O'Brien was standing on a chair accepting congratulations from his supporters.

One of the Independent councillor's Tullamore allies, Martin O'Connor, had a chair ready for the jubilant local politician just as returning officer Monica Cleary made her announcement.

Cllr O'Brien, who first made his mark on the electoral scene many years ago as a Labour Party representative, accepted the invitation to step up onto the seat as the celebrations of his success really kicked off.
