Fine Gael candidate John Clendennen has said he's battling for the last seat in Offaly with Sinn Fein and says the count could be suspended this evening.
First, the distribution of the votes of Mike Boylan, Pippa Hackett and 590 has to be completed.
He said: "I think we're definitely in a battle for the last seat. It looks like Carol Nolan is going to be elected and Tony McCormack of Fianna Fail and it will be Sinn Fein and myself in Fine Gael in contention for the last seat. There's currently a distribution of three candidates, almost 2,000 votes, and I think we'll have a better sense then as to how things stand. And I understand they're going to pause or postpone tonight and regroup in the morning and continue counting."
