Met Éireann warns of heavy rain and even spot flooding in washout weekend forecast
It looks like more unsettled weather is on its way for the weekend and into next week, as Met Éireann has warned of more thunderstorms and even spot flooding in some parts of the country.
As heavy rain is set to persist throughout the weekend, Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather has warned that there is "a lot of uncertainty" regarding the forecast for next weeks' National Ploughing Championships in County Offaly.
In a video shared on X, the weather man said: "For the Ploughing, a lot of uncertainty around Tuesday and Wednesday. Another low pressure system is forecast to come towards us. At the moment the weather models really can't decide where it's going to be, stay south of us, come over us. It doesn't look too significant at the moment but it does need watching.
"There will be spells of rain, but there will also be dry spells. So, very mixed weather continuing."
