Met Eireann forecast brutal week ahead with wind and rain on the way for Ireland

There is no sign of summer returning to Ireland this week as Met Eireann has issued a brutal weather forecast for the coming week.

According to Met Eireann, along with more rain this week, Ireland is also set to be hit with windy weather later in the week.

According to the latest Met Eireann weather forecast for Ireland, Monday morning will be dry over the northern half of the country with sunny spells. A cloudy start in the south with showery rain. The rain will spread further northwards through the day, heavy at times with the chance of isolated thunderstorms. Highest temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees, warmest in the north, in a light variable breeze, fresher on southern coasts.

Cloud and patchy rain and drizzle will gradually clear eastwards on Monday night. Clearer conditions with just the odd light shower will extend from the west and southwest. Temperatures not falling below 11 to 14 degrees with light to moderate northeasterly or variable winds, gradually backing northwesterly.

According to Met Eireann the best of the weather this week will be on Tuesdy as the weather will be rather warm with a mix of cloud and sunshine. While there will be a lot of dry weather for most, showers will occur, but they'll be mostly light and well scattered. Highest temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees generally, a little cooler near Atlantic and northern coasts, in light to moderate westerly winds.

Largely dry with clear spells on Tuesday night and just the chance of the odd stray shower near western coasts. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees in light southwest or variable breezes.

Met Eireann says that current indications suggest that after a largely dry start with sunny spells, the weather on Wedensday will turn cloudier from the west with patchy rain or showers developing. Turning breezy too with moderate to fresh southerly winds developing. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees.

According to Met Eireann, Thursday will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain in the west and northwest spreading elsewhere through the day with some heavy bursts possible. A clearance will follow into the west towards evening. Breezy at first with fresh and gusty southerly winds easing light to moderate westerly with the clearance later. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees, coolest in the west and northwest.

According to Met Eireann, Friday and next weekend will continue unsettled with spells of wet and breezy weather interspersed with drier and brighter interludes.
