SIGNIFICANT progress is being made on a major new housing development in Tullamore, with the first homes expected to be completed by this summer.

Located in Puttaghaun, this brand-new estate is being developed by Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes, who acquired the site from John Flanagan Developments Ltd. The homes are designed to meet A-rated energy standards and promise high quality, sustainable living.

Approved by An Bord Pleanála earlier this year, the project will bring 150 new residential units to the area, including 90 houses, 20 apartments, and 38 age-friendly assisted living units.

Fitzpatrick & Heavey CEO, Ciarán Fitzpatrick, is quoted as saying: ''We’re thrilled to be leading this transformative housing project for Tullamore. These 150 A-rated homes will meet the highest standards of quality and sustainability, offering much-needed housing in proximity to the Midlands Regional Hospital. This is a critical project and will deliver a thriving, well-planned community in the Midlands.”

Offaly County Council is also seeking to purchase a number of the homes under the Part V provision of the Planning and Development Act 2000. This legislation requires developers of larger residential projects to allocate up to 20% of the development for social and affordable housing, helping to ensure diverse and inclusive communities.

Under Part V, local authorities can choose to buy completed homes within the development or accept land for future use.

With strong progress on site and growing anticipation in the community, Tullamore’s newest neighbourhood is quickly becoming a reality.
