Deputy Tony McCormack says 700 new homes are being built in Tullamore

NEWLY elected TD for Offaly, Tony McCormack, has announced significant progress in addressing the housing challenges in the county, with the development of 1,000 new homes set to be completed over the next 16 months. Providing housing for approximately 3,000 people, based on an occupancy ratio of three residents per home.

"I am delighted to share that over 80% of these homes are already under construction, demonstrating the incredible efforts of all stakeholders involved," Deputy McCormack stated. "Of particular note, 700 homes are being built in the Tullamore area alone, with around 300 of them social housing."

Deputy McCormack commended the pivotal role played by Offaly County Council in achieving this progress. "Credit is due to the outstanding work of Offaly County Council and their commitment to tackling the housing issue head-on. While this development alone will not solve the housing problem, it is undoubtedly a step in the right direction."

Acknowledging the broader challenges still facing the county, Deputy McCormack reaffirmed his commitment to working collaboratively with local councillors, Offaly County Council, and all relevant stakeholders. "Over the term of this government, I will continue to engage closely with all parties to ensure we address housing needs comprehensively."

This housing initiative forms a critical part of Deputy McCormack's agenda to improve the quality of life for residents across Offaly and ensure the county continues to thrive.
