Village on Offaly border to host exciting day out for church roof restoration fund

Mark your calendars for an exciting day out in Clonaslee! On Sunday, August 4, Clonaslee High Nelly Club is hosting their annual summer fundraising event in aid of St. Manman's Church Roof Restoration Project.

The fun-filled day promises to be a memorable one for the club. At 1 p.m., registration for a 10K High Nelly cycle commences in the Square, Clonaslee, before the cyclists take off at 2 p.m. Club members will have a wide selection of vintage bicycles available to use on the day. Only those over 16 are permitted to participate in the cycle. €20 per entrant.

From there, an auction with a number of exciting lots will be held at 4 p.m., with a cake sale filled with treats on display. Live music will kick off at Hickey's Pub at 6 p.m.

Speaking ahead of the event, club secretary, Tom McRedmond said; "We have planned the day to ensure there is something for everyone, and a most enjoyable day out will be had in support of a great cause. Whether you are an eager cyclist preparing to tackle the 10K or simply want to come along and cheer, we are encouraging everyone to join in."

A statement on behalf of Clonaslee High Nelly Club's committee read: "This is a particularly special fundraiser for us as it coincides with the fifth anniversary of our club. We always strive to give back to our local community and are delighted to utilise this opportunity to fundraise for St. Manman's Church Roof Restoration Project. We continue to be incredibly fortunate to receive so much support, and we want to thank everyone who has played their part in the planning of this event. It promises to be our best yet!
