Offaly boxer and Olympics qualifier Grainne Walsh paid a visit to the offices of Offaly Domestic Violence Support Service (ODVSS) in Tullamore last week.
The team there was delighted to have the opportunity to wish her well on her journey to the Olympics in Paris.
Grainne was one of ODVSS's key speakers for the International Women’s Day in March 2023 and has been an avid supporter of the work by ODVSS in supporting victims of domestic abuse.
CEO of ODVSS Anne Clarke praised Grainne for her determination and the hard work she had put in to qualify despite the challenges that she endured, saying it
mirrored a client's journey in the strength and courage it takes when they encounter barriers and setbacks as they try to leave behind their abusive relationship and path to safety.
Grainne spent the morning meeting staff and talking about her experience and excitement about the Olympics, staying very focused on the here and now, one match at a time.
All the board and staff at ODVSS wish Grainne the very best of luck in July and will be watching her progress to the Gold Medal.
Grainne was presented with some flowers from everyone at ODVSS.
