Parade's theme reflects Irish culture and calls for peace across the globe
Over 60 young members of St. Mary's Youth and Community Centre cheered loudly at the launch of the 2024 Tullamore St. Patrick's Day Parade in the centre on Wednesday last. Also present were the committee for the parade, volunteers, staff and members of the Board of Management.
"We were delighted to launch this year's parade at St. Mary's Youth and Community Centre. They have always entered a fabulous float in the parade and have helped us down the years with steps and chairs for the review stand; this year we are holding our committee meetings there. The young members keenly got the colours out and raised the roof as the official launch was declared. We love to see all the organisations in the area with young members entering the parade as this is the future of the event and it leaves them with great memories," stated Cllr Sean O' Brien, Committee Secretary/PRO.
The parade takes place on Sunday, March 17, starting at 11.30am from the car park of the Bridge Centre.
Beforehand here will be entertainment provided by Tullamore Comhaltas at the review stand starting at 10.45am.
The parade Grand Marshall, former Taoiseach Brian Cowen, will address the public and cut the ribbon to officially start proceedings soon after 11.00am.
The public are advised to be there early as a large crowd is expected.
The theme this year is "Éire – cultúr trí ceol, caint, acria agus siocháin ar fud an domhain”.
All participants are asked to reflect this theme in their entry to highlight various aspects of our culture and to express the call for peace in our world.
Official letters of invitation have been posted and emailed to over 60 organisations and we are asking people to start preparing now for this great event.
