The vigil for Gaza takes place in Tullamore's O'Connor Square at 4pm on Saturday next
A vigil to express solidarity with the people of Gaza and Palestine will be held in O’Connor Square, Tullamore this coming Saturday, November 25 at 4pm. The recently established “Tullamore for Gaza” group is organising the event.
Speaking to the Tribune, “Tullamore for Gaza” spokesperson Fiona Dunkin said, “To date more than 13,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s assault on Gaza, at least 4,000 of them children.”
“What we are seeing is the active displacement of a population with ongoing attacks on civilian infrastructure. Homes, hospitals, schools and universities have all been targeted, as have medical professionals and journalists.”
“We are organising the vigil so that the people of Tullamore and Offaly have the opportunity to extend their solidarity to the Palestinian people and to make it clear to local politicians that we are calling for an immediate ceasefire, the expulsion of the Israeli ambassador and a full and swift investigation by the International Criminal Court (ICC) into Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity, including the crimes of genocide and apartheid” she said.
Tullamore for Gaza is a local group of activists and campaigners. The group seeks to extend the solidarity of the people of Tullamore and Offaly to the people of Palestine and calls for an immediate ceasefire by Israel.
