Prayers said for Lorna Woodnutt and family at Sunday Mass in Tullamore

PRAYERS were said for Lorna Woodnutt at the 8.30am Mass in the Church of the Assumption, Tullamore this morning Sunday October 1.

Fr Joseph Campbell prayed for the repose of the soul of Ms Woodnutt who died in tragic circumstances on Friday September 29. Fr Campbell prayed that her family received the support they so badly need at this sad time.

A teenage boy appeared at a special 9.30pm sitting of Tullamore District Court, last night ( Saturday September 30) charged with the murder of Ms Woodnutt.

He was remanded to Oberstown Child Detention Centre to appear by video link at the weekly sitting of the district court next Wednesday October 4.

A post-mortem by State Pathologist Dr.Heidi Okkers was carried out yesterday afternoon at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore and an examination of the scene by the Garda Technical Bureau was undertaken.

Gardai are continuing to urge people not to share disturbing images online and Judge Andrew Cody warned members of the public that it is a criminal offence to do so, one which carries a penalty of up to three years in prison and a fine of €12,000.
