Liam Walsh meeting with Conor Troy, Sean and Tom Donogher and Sam Gowing
A big shout out to the local boys in green, Conor Troy (Kilcormac) and Tom and Sean Donogher (Kinnitty) pictured along with their clubmate Sam Gowing (aged 10 from Killeigh), as they prepare to set off in three weeks time to Sydney to represent Ireland in the FIPFA PowerChair Football World Cup.
Green Party local elections candidate in the Tullamore area, Liam Walsh got to meet with the players, their coach and parents at their training base in Mucklagh Community Centre.
Mr Walsh emphasized the importance that sport plays in young people lives, particularly for people with disabilities and what an honour for these boys to represent their country on the biggest possible stage.
“Extra funding for this sport would give other girls and boys with disabilities the opportunity to take part and be included,” he stressed.
Finally, he wished these local boys the very best of luck and to thank those who sponsored them on their road to Australia.
