Enjoy eight days on two wheels during Bike Week in Offaly
Bike Week, a celebration of cycling, is back for 2023 and takes place from Saturday, May 13 to Sunday, May 21.
Enjoy eight days on two wheels celebrating and promoting all that is great about cycling. There is quite literally something for all ages and abilities, from free bike checks, fun cycles, lunchtime rides, school cycle events, bike festivals and much more.
In Offaly, there are a wide range of events taking place including: Grand Canal Greenway relay – Saturday, 13th May 2023
Join us for our inaugural Grand Canal Greenway Relay along 50km of the Greenway from Edenderry to Pollagh.
Two route options available: -
Option 1 (experienced cyclists)
George’s Bridge, Edenderry to Pollagh Community Shop & Grand Canal Greenway Café.
Depart George’s Bridge, Edenderry at 9:30am
(50k with an option for return trip from Pollagh to Edenderry totalling 100km, completed at own risk)
Option 2 (recreational cyclists, families, etc.) – “stages” event
Stage 1 - George’s Bridge, Edenderry to Molesworth Bridge (greenway carpark), Daingean – 17km
Depart George’s Bridge, Edenderry at 10:00
Stage 2 – Molesworth Bridge, Daingean to The Old Warehouse, Bury Quay, Tullamore – 14.5km
Depart Molesworth Bridge (greenway carpark), Daingean at 11:30
Stage 3 – The Old Warehouse, Bury Quay, Tullamore to The Thatch, Rahan - 8.5km
Depart The Old Warehouse, Bury Quay, Tullamore at 13:00
Stage 4 – The Thatch, Rahan to Pollagh Community Shop & Grand Canal Greenway Café – 8km
Depart The Thatch, Rahan at 14:15
Refreshments available at each “stages” stop

Ride leaders will be on hand to support less experienced riders and families to complete the “stages” sections
