TULLAMORE & District Chamber of Commerce along with partners, Offaly Local Development, Offaly Local Enterprise Office, Technological University of the Shannon Midlands Midwest and Laois and Offaly Education and Training Board launched the 2023 Offaly Jobs Fair last week.

This event which will be held in the Tullamore Court Hotel on Saturday, June 10 between 10.00 am and 3.00 pm.

The event has the capacity to cater for about50 businesses who will be able to meet with potential future employees and inform them of their vacancies.

“The event will be heavily marketed to attract job seekers especially the employee market who are leaving our county each day on long commutes,” said Chamber President, Anthony Hanniffy speaking at the informal launch at Zoetis in the Sragh industrial Estate on Friday afternoon last.

He said that last year's inaugural fair proved to be a great success with very positive feedback from both job hunters and businesses.

He added that a copy of the application form and full details are available on the Chamber website:  www.tullamorechamber.com  or by contacting Aoife Wyer in the Chamber Office – info@tullamorechamber.com.

He added: “There is a cost to the event which is based on the size of businesses but we’ve endeavoured to keep this to the minimum.”

Mr Hanniffy said it was great to see the major expansion in progress at Zoetis.

It is understood that 600 people are employed in construction work on the expansion at the moment.

Also speaking at the launch, Siobhan Conroy of Tullamore Credit Union, said her organisation was really looking forward to the fair having being very impressed with last year's event.

Her views were echoed by John O'Donovan of Integra and Orla Martin of the Local Enterprise Office.
