Jack Nolan lights up Morecambe’s win at Sutton with nine-minute hat-trick

A nine-minute hat-trick from Jack Nolan powered resurgent Morecambe to a dashing 5-0 win away at Sutton.

Jim Bentley continued his impressive return as manager as the Enterprise National League strugglers took their 10th point from the last 15 with a dominant display on the road.

Nolan provided the assist for Paul Lewis’ early opener but quickly graduated from creator to finisher with three goals between the 16th and 25th minutes.

His first was a free-kick struck from the edge of the box and his second sneaked through direct from a corner, before he popped up in open play to complete his treble.

Sutton’s day got even worse as Junior Ecclestone was sent off soon after but the frantic pace slowed with Dan Ogwuru finally adding a fifth deep in the second half.
