Substitutes Josh Dacres-Cogley and Jake Young scored second-half goals as Bolton and Stevenage shared a 1-1 Sky Bet League One draw at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.
Dacres-Cogley had only been on the pitch six minutes when he accepted Joel Randall’s pass to fire under Taye Ashby-Hammond for his first goal since March 2024.
But Wanderers’ end-of-season fade continued as they chased a first win in six games.
With 14 minutes remaining, Taylor – a 61st-minute replacement for Louis Appere – volleyed in his fourth goal of the season from Luther James-Wildin’s header.
For a fixture without jeopardy, both sides played their part in a lively game. John McAtee and Szabi Schon had great chances inside five minutes.
Dan Sweeney was denied by Trotters goalkeeper Luke Southwood, while Aaron Collins wasted a glorious first-half chance to take his season’s tally to 20 goals at the other end.
Southwood twice saved from Jamie Reid, while McAtee tried his luck with an audacious 45 metres lob.
Dacres-Cogley’s 66th-minute breakthrough was cancelled out by Young 10 minutes later, before Schon and Dan Phillips missed chances to win it for their respective teams.
