York secured a third straight victory to move within eight points of the top of the Vanarama National League table – at least temporarily – as they beat Fylde 3-1.
The visitors to Mill Farm were given the chance to take the lead on the stroke of half-time as they were awarded a penalty and Ollie Pearce made no mistake slotting home to give York the advantage at the interval.
York strengthened their grip on proceedings in the 74th minute when Joe Felix reacted first to a ball in the box and finished neatly to make it two. Malachi Fagan-Walcott added a third for the Minstermen before Nick Haughton pulled one back for the hosts.
However it was nothing more than a consolation goal as York cruised to victory and kept leaders Barnet in their sights before the southern side visit Braintree later on Saturday.
