Impervious not out of Cheltenham reckoning just yet

Colm Murphy has not given up hope of getting Impervious to the Cheltenham Festival next month.

Unbeaten over fences, the nine-year-old has not run since backing up her Mares’ Chase win at Cheltenham in the Punchestown Festival equivalent in April 2023.

After the best part of two years off the track, Murphy is understandably keen to get a run into her before the big meeting, but admits it is getting tight for time.

He does, though, have a couple of options in mind for the JP McManus-owned mare.

“Touch wood so far so good and hopefully we’ll get her out before the end of the month. There are options for her at Naas and Navan,” said Murphy.

“It’s been a long road with her with a few little bumps along the way, but fingers crossed we’ll get a good run with her and it’s all systems go.

“We haven’t ruled out Cheltenham, but I’d love to get a run into her before I’d bring her over.”
