Irish Arkle on the radar for Here Comes Georgie

Irish Arkle on the radar for Here Comes Georgie

Patrick Neville is eyeing an ambitious tilt at the Irish Arkle with his fast-improving chaser Here Comes Georgie.

The seven-year-old is two from two over fences this season, opening his account at Wetherby in mid-November before following up at Ascot last month.

He faces a huge step up in class at the Dublin Racing Festival, with the Willie Mullins-trained Majborough among his likely rivals, but North Yorkshire-based Irishman Neville is happy to roll the dice back in his homeland.

“We’re thinking of going, he’s in great form,” he said.

“We’re back on track with him. We missed a few days, but we seem to have freshened him up well after his last run and we’re aiming for Leopardstown.

“There isn’t a massive amount of races for him here and hopefully the ground will be dry enough for him there. He likes a bit of good ground and Leopardstown is always nice ground.

“He came out of Ascot in great form and seems to have taken to fences well. He has to step up again now, but we’re very happy with him and to jump around Ascot the way he did he’s well able to jump around everywhere.

“They have to jump around and you never know. Hopefully he can progress again and be in the mix.”
