Football rumours: Manchester City eye move for Viktor Gyokeres

What the papers say

Sporting and Sweden striker Viktor Gyokeres is being eyed by Manchester City. The Daily Mirror, via Sky Sport Switzerland, says the 26-year-old is seen as a long-term replacement for Erling Haaland.

Manchester United could offload Brazilian winger Antony to his former club Ajax, reports the Daily Mirror via Dutch outlet De Telegraaf. But reports suggest the Dutch club have some reservations about the 27-year-old’s return.

Four managers have been identified as replacements for Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, according to the Daily Mirror. Former Barcelona boss Xavi, ex-Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic, Ruben Amorim from Sporting in Lisbon and the club’s former striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, who returned to Old Trafford as ten Hag’s assistant in the summer, make up the shortlist.
