Blackpool extend winning run under Steve Bruce with comfortable Burton victory

Blackpool made it four league wins on the bounce under manager Steve Bruce with a comfortable 3-0 home victory over struggling Burton.

In a fairly even first half that saw neither side wrestle complete control, it was the hosts who led at the break thanks to Odeluga Offiah’s 19th-minute strike.

The on-loan Brighton defender scored his first goal for the club with a deft header from a tidy Lee Evans free-kick.

Burton finished the half thinking they could have had a penalty after striker Danilo Orsi felt he was brought down by home goalkeeper Harry Tyrer. Unfortunately for the Brewers, referee Geoff Eltringham did not agree and instead booked the former Crawley marksman for diving.

The Seasiders doubled their advantage in the early minutes of the second period thanks to a fine solo effort from Rob Apter. The winger danced his way through the away side’s back line before curling a low finish past Max Crocombe.

Tangerines skipper Evans completed the win 15 minutes from time with a low drive from the edge of the box after a neat lay-off from substitute Ashley Fletcher.

The win lifts Blackpool into the play-off places while Burton remain without a win in the league yet this season.
