There was great news for Offaly on Thursday as Garryhinch swimmer Nicole Turner qualified for the swimming finals on the opening day of the Paris Paralympic Games.

Nicole secured her spot in the S6 Women’s 50m freestyle finals after finishing third in her heat.

Nicole is now ranked fifth out of all finalists competing in the final this evening.

This follows a great day of swimming for Team Ireland as Limerick's Róisín Ní Riain finished in fourth place in the 100m butterfly heat which saw her qualify for the 100-metre butterfly final at the Paralympic Games in Paris.

Nicole will swim in the finals this evening at 20:19.
