Barry Robson aware of how important Aberdeen’s win at Ross County was

Barry Robson says nobody should underestimate how big a result his Aberdeen side’s 1-0 victory over Ross County was in Dingwall.

Duk’s 16th goal of the season proved to be the difference as Aberdeen moved five points clear of fourth-placed Hearts in the Scottish Premiership.

Robson admitted it was a tough clash against the Staggies but thought the Dons deserved a lot of credit for the victory.

“Ross County are a team that make games difficult,” said Robson

“They keep turning you over and throw throw-ins on top of you.

“The analysis we had all week, we showed the players what to expect.

“Don’t underestimate how good a result that is. The two things that we were good at was; defensively we were outstanding and we were also really good at the transition.

“That is as difficult as it gets, it wasn’t our best free-flowing football, but it is also important to have that side of the game.”

Robson also paid tribute to the performance of Leighton Clarkson, who set up Duk to score the only goal of the game.

“He has got so much better and getting up the pitch and he is actually passing a lot more,” he said.

“He is a top player who passes the ball forward, that is what top players do and he has got it. He is going to do a lot more of it.”

Ross County manager Malky Mackay was disappointed they came away empty handed for the level of performance they produced.

“We started really well and probably should have taken our chances in the first half,” he said.

“When you put so many corners into the box, you expect something from it.

“We make an error in the first half and everything Duk hits – they go in. The one chance they had they score. We have to push to get back into it.

“But if we keep going like that in the next six games, I’ll take that.”
