The gathering to commemorate the milestone was held at The Bridge House Hotel in Tullamore

A special celebration was held in The Bridge House Hotel recently to commemorate the retirement of two of the longest-serving teachers at a Tullamore school.

Ray O'Donovan and Liam O hOistin both ended their teaching tenures having made a massive impact in both an academic and sporting sense over the last four decades at Colaiste Choilm in Tullamore.

Ray O'Donovan, a proud native of Clonakilty in West Cork, and Liam O hOistin, equally proud of his home roots in the Gaeltacht at Spiddal, Galway both arrived in the then Tullamore Christian Brothers School in the mid 1980s.

Throughout that time, they met their wives in Tullamore, reared their family, set down roots and the Offaly town will now remain home for them in their retirement.
