Gardaí and emergency services responded to a collision involving a car and a van this morning

Gardaí in Killarney are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision that has left three people hospitalised. 

The incident occurred along the N22 Killarney to Tralee Road at Coolcorcoran in Killarney, Co Kerry this morning, July 31. 

Shortly after 9:30am, Gardaí and emergency services responded to the collision involving a car and a van.

A passenger in one of the vehicles, a woman in her 60s, was conveyed by air ambulance to Cork University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The drivers of both vehicles, a man in his 80s and a woman in her 60s, were brought to University Hospital Kerry for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threatening at this time.

The road remains closed pending a technical examination. Local traffic diversions are in place, however, these diversions are not suitable for heavy vehicles. Drivers are advised to use alternative national routes.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Any road users who may have dash-cam and were travelling in the area between 9:00am and 9:45am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
