Luas damaged after motorcyclist aged in his 40s crashes into it

A motorcyclist in his 40s was rushed to hospital this morning (July 1) after his motorcycle collided with the Luas. 

According to An Garda Síochána, officers and emergency services attended the scene of the road collision on Dorset Street, Dublin 7 at approximately 6.05am this morning. 

The motorcyclist was rushed to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital for medical assessment. 

No other injuries were reported at the time. 

The road was closed and has since reopened. 

Investigations are ongoing. 

Dublin Fire Brigade posted a picture of the damage on their official X account this afternoon, stating, "In the early hours of this morning firefighters from Phibsborough and Tara Street fire stations were called to a road traffic collision on Dominick Street.

"There was temporary traffic restrictions in place until recovery got underway."
