More change is on the way at RTÉ 2fm with the announcement by Donncha O'Callaghan that he is to leave the station at the end of next week.

The former Munster and Ireland rugby international has been co-presenting the 2FM Breakfast Show for more than three years alongside Carl Mullen and Doireann Garrihy who recently left the station.

In a post on social media this Tuesday, the Cork native confirmed his departure saying: "Friday the 5th July will be my last '2FM Breakfast' Show. I’m so incredibly grateful and proud of the last five years in 2FM, I’ve absolutely loved it."

In his Instagram post, Donncha paid tribute to his co-presenters and those working behind the scenes at the national broadcaster.

"We all have a reason for bouncing out of bed and taking on the day. I’ve been blessed yet again to do something I’ve loved for the last five years. Of course it requires sacrifice and commitment, in my case that load has been carried by Jenny. Thank you for always backing me," he wrote.

Donncha went on to say: "It is now time to focus on winning Ireland’s Fittest Family , to continue working on all my exciting rugby projects and something else that is a complete “Disaster”…"

The departure of Donncha O'Callaghan from RTÉ 2fm follows on from the exit of Doireann Garrihy, Jennifer Zamparelli and The 2 Johnnies in recent months.
