A passenger at Dublin Airport has been found with 20kg of drugs hidden in their luggage.

Revenue confirmed the haul in a statement on Wednesday, saying the individual was searched as a result of "risk profiling."

Upon searching the passenger who had just landed at the airport, Revenue officers seized approximately 20.1 kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €403,200.

"The illicit drugs were discovered within the baggage of a passenger who had disembarked a flight originating from Malaysia," a statement confirmed.

"A man in his 20s was subsequently arrested by An Garda Síochána and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at a Dublin Garda Station," Revenue added.

Investigations are ongoing.

This seizure is part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale, and supply of illegal drugs. If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on 1800 295 295.
