Van not taxed for 525 days seized following garda detection on rural road

Gardai in Longford have highlighted the detection on social media

A van which was stopped on a rural road in County Longford was seized after gardai established it had not been taxed for nearly 18 months.

Highlighting the detection on social media, gardai posted a photograph of the white Wolkswagen van after it was stopped by members of the Roads Policing Unit.

"Gardai on patrol, alerted by ANPR systems, detected vehicle out of tax 525 days" read the post on Facebook.

While the exact location of the detection has not been disclosed publicly, the photograph suggests it occurred on a narrow rural road.

It's not known what action, if any, will be taken against the driver.
