A man has been arrested and a suspected firearm seized by gardai investigating an incident of reckless endangerment incident in Limerick city, earlier this week.
In a statement, a garda spokesperson said items of an "evidential nature" were seized during a "search and arrest operation" in Limerick city this Thursday morning.
"The man, aged in his 20s, is currently detained at a garda station in Limerick under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
"During the course of a related search at a residential property in County Tipperary, a suspected firearm was seized," said the garda spokesperson.
This firearm has been sent to the Garda Ballistics Unit for analysis and investigations are ongoing.
The reckless endangerment and public order incident occurred at approximately 5.15pm on Tuesday and involved an altercation between a number of individuals on Hyde Road, close to Limerick city centre.
"Following this altercation, a man was struck by a vehicle on Hyde Road, which failed to remain at the scene.
"This man presented to University Hospital Limerick to be treated for injuries believed to be non-life threatening," said the garda spokesperson.
