A Cork motorist was clocked travelling at 192km/h in 100km/h zone
A motorist who was caught travelling at high speed on a busy national road in West Cork is facing prosecution before the courts, gardai have confirmed.
The detection was made on the N22, close to the small village Crookstown - around 10 km from Macroom.
According to a post on social media, highlighting the incident, the vehicle was detected travelling at 192km/h in a 100km/h zone.
The N22 is the main road between Cork City and Macroom and is used by thousands of vehicles every day.
Gardai have not publicly disclosed what charge or charges have been preferred in the specific case but in the case of those convicted of dangerous driving, a mandatory disqualification applies.
In highlighting the incident, gardai are appealing to all drivers to adhere to speed limits, to drive safely and to slow down.
