Three men arrested in relation to murder of Croatian man in Dublin

Three men have been arrested in relation to the murder of a Croatian man in Dublin.

Josip Strok was murdered and another man was seriously assaulted in Clondalkin on March 30.

The arrests were made on Thursday morning by gardai attached to the Clondalkin District and GNBCI.

All three are being detained at Garda stations under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Taoiseach Simon Harris said he would be happy to speak with Mr Strok’s family.

“My heart goes to the family,” he said. “I would have discussed this matter with the Garda Commissioner as recently as last week, I believe. I am very conscious of the very active investigation ongoing as evidenced today with significant developments.

“My understanding is that the Gardai had been liaising through the Croatian embassy, but I’m certainly very happy to have a conversation with the family.

“I obviously can’t and won’t do anything that cuts across in any manner or means the Garda investigation because I want justice to be secured for this family, and therefore I don’t want to expand further on the comments other than to say I’d be very happy to speak (with the family).”
