Roscrea St Patrick's Day parade makes a welcome return on Thursday

THE Roscrea St Patrick's Day Parade is back and it makes a welcome return to the streets of the town on this Thursday, March 17th after a two year break due to the Covid-19 restrictions.

Roscrea is well known for its spectacular St. Patrick's Day Parade. It's an event which has always showcased the very best of Ireland's third oldest town and it is hoped the event will make a spectacular return this year after the Covid pandemic.

After a two year break necessitated by Covid, Roscrea is to have a St Patrick’s Day Parade to remember this year to make up for missing out on the last two years.

John Lupton, Chairman of Roscrea Community Development Council and a member of the Parade Committee. told the Tribune that Roscrea’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on Thursday, March 17th at 3.30pm and with good weather forecast, they are looking forward to seeing loads of people lining the streets to support the event.

The Organising Committee are seeking the participation and support of all the organisations and people who made Roscrea's previous Parades such a great success - Roscrea is known nationwide for its great Parade.

The organisers hope this year to have representation from all community groups in the town - to make the 2022 parade a truly spectacular and special community event as we emerge having weathered the pandemic together.

As usual there are a large number of trophies in various categories for parade entries and hence those entering floats are encouraged to make “the little extra effort” which might be rewarded with a perpetual trophy. The Organising Committee are also this year holding its annual Shop Window competition the winner of which will be announced from the Review Stand.

PARADE ENTRY

Entry to the parade is free and the Organising Committee are inviting individuals, groups, organisations, clubs, businesses, novelty items and community interest groups to enter floats and add to the diversity of the parade.
