Are you ready to rock? Lily O'Briens on Castle Street are bringing the rock back to Roscrea this weekendRoscrea

Roscrea once had a great reputation as a place steeped in rock music and with a thriving local scene of small bands performing regularly and a local venue plans to restore the rock in Roscrea.

Lily O'Brien's pub, run by Ken and Alison Lee, occupies a landmark building on Castle Street in Roscrea and is bringing rock bands back to Roscrea starting this Christmas.

The first gig will be held on Saturday night, December 7th, when two tribute bands will kick off Roscrea's rocking Christmas on Castle Street.

Nirvana tribute act 'With the Lights Out' will be joined on the night by local Rage Against the Machine tribute 'Feckin Raging' for a night that promises to have everyone rocking around the Christmas tree.

The local band are made up of members from Roscrea, Templemore and Nenagh and have performed several gigs around the country and are looking forward to bringing their show to home turf for Christmas.

The gig will be the first full band live experience in Roscrea in a number of years and Ken and Alison are very excited to host what they hope will be the first of many rock themed nights in Roscrea and mark the return of a thriving local music scene in the heritage town.

The free event kicks off at 8:30pm in Roscrea and will be followed by a repeat performance in the Talbot Bar on Kenyon Street in Nenagh on Sunday night, December 29th.

For more information on both bands and to sample what will be in store at the gigs in Roscrea and Nenagh, they can be found on social media and YouTube.
