THE Birr Christmas Lights committee are busy putting the finishing touches on the Christmas lights display for 2023 and will have the big switch on this Saturday November 25th.

They are returning to Green St, Birr, again this year for an afternoon of family fun which includes face painting, Jeca the Clown, a children's carnival, Santa's train, in association with Birr Lions Club, and a Magic show.

In addition to all of this they will have an indoor Christmas market in the Chestnut, and, of course, no Christmas Lights afternoon would be complete without a visit from Santa. Santa and Mrs Claus will be in their grotto from 2pm to 6pm.

Admission to Green Street is €15 per family. Refreshments are not included in the entrance fee. Please note there will be no card facilities at the entrance points to Green St.

New for 2023 is the sensory Santa, which will be from 10am to 6pm in the Marian Hall. Booking is essential for the sensory Santa, and the cost is €10 per child. Santa will leave Green St at 6pm and make his way to Emmet Square.

The organisers are very excited that the talented Caroline Conway has joined the team this year, and has put together a beautiful Christmas themed illuminations display in association with Cush Wind Farm. Caroline's illuminations will run in the Square from 6.15pm to 7pm.

At 7pm Santa will join them once again and, with the help of all the boys and girls, he will light up the town with the switch on of the Christmas lights.
