Lough Derg is very beautiful but its beauty can lead to a pressure on its amenities.
A number of beauty spots along the shores of Lough Derg are victims of their popularity, a recent meeting of Nenagh MD was told.
Marcus O’Connor, Director of Services, told the meeting there had been complaints from locals about illegal camping in Dromineer, and bonfires in Castlelough.
He said there have been complaints as well about excessive pressure on toilet blocks in the area. He pointed out that the problems get worse during Bank Holiday weekends with a lot of people heading to the beauty spots. He promised that the Council will tackle the problems.
