Clara St. Patrick's Day Parade to remember local musicians

This years St. Patrick's Day festivities in Clara will remember in a special way two renowned musical performers.

Clara man Carthage 'Catch' Berry and Moate's Willie Adamson will be honoured with the presentation of special trophies to their relatives at the launch of the St. Patricks Day parade in The Trap pub in Clara on Friday next, March 3.

The presentations will be made by Clara personality of the year, Celsus Doolan.

'Catch' Berry was born in Clonshanny, The Island, Ballycumber, in October 1939. He loved music and singing, and played with bands including the Balinamere Ceili band, Rovado FIve, The Crackaways, The Moonlights, The Morions and The Colorado.

Willie Adamson was from Athlone Road in Moate. Music was always part of the Adamson household and from an early age Willie and his siblings were introduced to Irish Traditional Music.

Bertie McMahon, who has been in organising the ST. Patrick's Day Parade in Clara for the last forty years said seven marching bands have been conformed for this years parade.
