THE fifth of the Oireachtas Transition Year work experience weeks for 2026 took place in Leinster House from Monday to Friday (March 23rd–27th).

The Transition Year Work experience weeks are organised by the Parliamentary Education Office and are just one of their offerings as part of their education outreach.

Eve Pey, a transition year student from St Brendan’s Community School in Birr, was one of the students taking part in the latest work experience week. Deputy John Clendennen was delighted to meet with Eve during the week.

It’s always a pleasure to welcome people from Offaly to Leinster house but I think it is even more heartening to see the interest shown by the young people of Offaly. I was delighted to have the opportunity to meet and chat with Eve during her week in Leinster House and I hope that it proved to be an interesting and worthwhile experience,” said Deputy Clendennen.

The Oireachtas have an active education programme, dealing with 1,000s of students each year who either attend workshops in person in Leinster House or take part in live online classes. I would encourage all teachers and schools in Offaly to get in touch with the education team and become actively engaged in learning about politics.

If any school would like more information on how to get in touch with the Parliamentary Education team, please feel free to get in touch.”
