Offaly will be hosting three free events next week to celebrate National Hedgerow Week which runs from September 1 to September 8.

The week aims to raise awareness of the importance of hedges for agriculture, biodiversity, and climate. Offaly County Council in collaboration with Teagasc and the Heritage Council has organised three events to mark the week.

What's happening:

Foraging with Wild Food Mary will take place on Sunday September 1 from 11am-1pm at the Grand Canal Harbour in Edenderry. On this foraging walk you will learn how to identify edible plants and their many uses.

There will be a Bat Walk with Kildare Bat Group on Wednesday September 4 at 8pm at Tullamore Town Park. This exciting walk will be led by bat expert Anna Collins and the Kildare Bat Group who will demonstrate how to use a bat detector to identify different bats.
