Roscrea U-10 hurlers winners of the Fiona Phelan Blitz Perpetual Cup at the blitz held at St Cronan's Park, Roscrea.
ROSCREA GAA held an under 10 hurling blitz in St Cronan's Park, Roscrea in memory of Fiona Phelan, who was heavily involved in the Roscrea club for many years.
Addressing the crowd on the occasion Paul Phelan said “on behalf of myself, Amy, Conor and the extended Phelan and O'Connor family, I would just like to begin by saying how overwhelmed and humbled we were in St Cronan's Park this morning. What a fantastic and fitting tribute to Fiona. We are grateful to all the teams that visited from near and far, and what fantastic hurlers we had on display. Hurling is in a great place when you look and see the skills on show today.
“To our own Club words are not enough to say how much we appreciate everything that was done in last few weeks and today to make it such a success. I won’t mention any names in particular in case I leave out someone, but from to food to the hurling and everything in between, all we can say is Thank You.
“Fiona was a GAA woman to the back bone, she loved her beloved Tipperary, but Roscrea came first every time, and even though she travelled all over the county and country to support both, she was most happy in our own field watching Roscrea play any grade in any game from U-5s to senior, boy or girls it didn’t matter as long as they had red and white on she was shouting them on, and she could shout.
“So without repeating myself again just let me say thanks from me and extended family,” Paul concluded.
