People urged to support Tidy Towns

COUNCILLOR Declan Leddin has called on Offaly County Council to allocate its 2012 grant for litter and graffiti. “This is an annual grant to local authorities and it was released to Offaly County Council this week,” revealed Cllr Leddin.

COUNCILLOR Declan Leddin has called on Offaly County Council to allocate its 2012 grant for litter and graffiti. “This is an annual grant to local authorities and it was released to Offaly County Council this week,” revealed Cllr Leddin.

“There is provision for the funding to be used to promote awareness and education in relation to litter and schools and young people and Tidy Towns groups can seek funding to this end.

“Our community groups and residents associations are doing great work locally and this funding should be used to support this work.

“I know that Tidy Towns committees in Edenderry, Rhode, Clonbullogue and other areas would welcome any assistance from people who may have an hour a couple of hours to spare during the various clean ups taking place this week,” he concluded
