IN response to growing concerns over the safety of primary school children attending St Cynoc's NS Ferbane crossing the busy N62 national road Cllr Claffey, is taking immediate action to address this pressing issue.

The lack of safety railings along the bustling main road outside St Cynoc's NS has raised significant alarm, especially during peak school hours when children navigate their way to and from the school. Recognising the urgency of this matter, Cllr Claffey has personally engaged with the Principal and vice principal to discuss the gravity of the situation.

A comprehensive solution is in progress, with the local engineer having been consulted to assess and propose viable safety measures. A long safety railing is under consideration to be installed along the road, ensuring that children can safely cross without being exposed to the risks posed by heavy traffic.

Cllr Claffey emphasises the paramount importance of prioritising the safety of our community's children. "This issue hits close to home for me, as a parent. Our children's safety is non-negotiable, and I am committed to taking every necessary step to secure their well-being," states Cllr Claffey

The ultimate goal is to create a secure environment for our children, where they can navigate their daily commute to school without any unnecessary risks.

"I will continue working diligently with the local authority, school officials, and the engineer to expedite the implementation of safety measures. Together, we can ensure that our primary school children are protected and can travel to and from school safely,” she concluded.
