IN the year of the 25th Anniversary of the revival of the Roscrea Community Choir, a celebratory night honouring past and present members was held in the County Arms Hotel on Friday 20th of October.
Special presentations were given to Lucy McCarthy our longtime Musical Director and Mentor, and to Mary Ryan, who along with the late Terry Horan and others, organised the Revival of the Community Choir in 1998 and is still an active Committee member and Choir singer.
Before a lovely dinner presentations and speeches were given by Catherine Egan, Secretary, Mary Ryan and Siobhán Bowe, chronicling the active history of the revived Choir.
Photo Albums and a photo slideshow were on view to share great memories of visits to Italy, Austria, Prague & Choir participation in Papal masses, choral festivals and local celebrations.

The choir were entertained also by our own local group 'Passing Through' and all enjoyed a marvellous night out.
“Thanks to the Committee and all who helped organise a wonderful 25th anniversary celebratory evening.
“Thanks also to the wonderful staff of the County Arms Hotel, Birr, who couldn't have been more helpful in our preparing and decorating of the lovely venue room and for the delicious meal”, the Choir said.
“Members were buzzing after a great night's celebration and sang all the way home on the bus, provided by Andrew Walsh, one of our tenors! Our next big event for our celebratory 25th anniversary is a Christmas themed concert on Saturday the 9th of December 2023, in the Church of Ireland, Roscrea.
“Guest Artists include the lovely Soprano Yvonne O'Toole, the VOICE academy singers by Yvonne O'Toole, the Midland String Quartet and the Roscrea Cistercian Boys' Choir.
“It promises to be a wonderful night's entertainment! Some tickets will be available on the door and Choir members will also be pre-selling some tickets.
“Keep on eye on the local press and media outlets in the coming weeks”, PRO Siobhan Bowe said.
