Roscrea Heritage Society's Black Mills Sessions

Jack Keeshan and Shea Oran McGurnaghan next in the popular gig series

Roscrea Heritage Society's Black Mills Sessions

Roscrea songwriter Jack Keeshan

NEXT up on the Black Mills Sessions the society will host Jack Keeshan and Shea Oran McGurnaghan.

Jack and Shea will share the stage with the St Cronan’s High Cross, a fascinating relic that once sat in a graveyard across the road from the Black Mills.

The Black Mills dates from the first half of the 18th century and is located near the 11th century round tower and 12th century Romanesque church. The acoustic properties of the mill make an ideal venue to host music performances.

A proud Roscrea native, Jack Keeshan is not just some other young fellow with a guitar strung round his shoulder. His story telling style of passionate music is fired by a deep need to share an authentic message of self-worth and love for your fellow human being. This young man has an amazing gift to communicate through song and spoken word.

“Jacks songs touch on the metaphysical and his early music has the echoes of titans running through it. It has Leonard Cohen’s fingerprints, the scent of the best of Bob Dylan and at its core is an inimitable gentleness and ease that makes it instantly endearing” wrote Darren Keegan (Midland Tribune).

Shea Oran McGurnaghan is a singer songwriter hailing from Belfast. His style of hooky indie pop is fused with a melodic vocal that draws the listener in. The style of writing that Shea brings to the table is very much a blend of multiple styles of guitar playing; he is a song writer with a very unique flare for his craft.

The society is looking forward to what promises to be a very enjoyable evening with Jack and Shea. As seating is limited, tickets (€10) must be purchased online at the evntbrite.ie website. Doors open at 7.45pm and the event begins at 8pm and runs until 10pm.

National Heritage Week.
To coincide with National Heritage Week, the society hosted a Rambling House in Roscrea Courthouse on Monday where the audience joined Fear an Tí, Séamus Moloughney, for a fabulous evening of music and song.
