A 37-year-old Romanian national was granted bail at a special sitting of Tipperary District Court in Nenagh on Monday morning in relation to the discovery of an alleged imitation firearm on board a train near Templemore last Friday.
Emil Barchesan, with an address at 1 Clarinwood, Rathmore, county Kerry, has been charged under the Firearms Act. There was no Garda objection to bail.
Judge Elizabeth MacGrath granted Mr Barchesan bail on a number of conditions, including that he surrender his travel documents and not apply for any other travel documents.
Sgt Thomas Hanrahan of Thurles Garda Station told the court that the Gardaí had no objection to him going to Romania for two weeks on holidays, providing that on his return he reside in Rathmore and sign on at Millstreet Garda Station once a week.
He is also to provide a phone contact and be contactable by the gardaí.
Judge MacGrath set bail in his own bond of €500, with an independent surety of €300 in cash to be lodged in the court.
She adjourned the matter to Thurles District Court to September 6, 2023.
