TIPPERARY Education and Training Board (ETB) is delighted to announce that Niamh Lynch will lead the exciting new Level 5 Fashion Design course as Co-ordinator and Instructor at the Further Education and Training Centre in Archerstown, Thurles.

Niamh will spearhead the course which welcomes its first class of learners this September. The course can be used as a progression pathway into Higher Education programmes such as Art and Design, or teacher training for Home Economics or Art and Design, to name a few. It will also provide a pathway into potential employment as a Fashion Designer, Fashion Buyer, Textile Designer, Visual Merchandiser, Retail Fashion and Stylist.

Niamh brings with her nearly 20 years of industry knowledge and experience in women’s wear tailoring. She has also lectured in areas such as Contextual Studies, Fashion Design and Manufacture, Trend Forecasting, Fashion Buying, and CAD.

Niamh was selected as a finalist for The Universal Design Grand Challenge (2020) for her Chameleon Jacket Design, based on the principles of Universal Design. Her project addressed user experiences of people with Cerebral Palsy and limited fine motor skills and subsequently became a universal design.

Tipperary ETB’s new Level 5 Fashion Design course is a 31-week full-time programme which will launch this September. Learners will be introduced to all aspects of fashion design, and will be encouraged to embrace their creativity as they compile a high-quality portfolio of work by developing skills in the areas of design research, concept development, drawing skills, product design, pattern cutting, garment construction, and the buying process for retail fashion

Matthew Ryan, Training Services Manager, is delighted to welcome Niamh to Tipperary ETB. Niamh has a huge volume of industry experience in fashion and textiles which will be invaluable in her role as Fashion Design Instructor when imparting knowledge to students. Tipperary ETB continues to add additional infrastructure to its Further Education and Training Centre in Archerstown to ensure students obtain first class training to meet the needs of industry.

Limited spaces remain available on this exciting new course, and anybody looking for further information can contact courses@tipperaryetb.ie or call Tipperary ETB Learner Recruitment Officer, Emma Wing, on (052) 619 1433.
