Roscrea Speakers Club first event of 2023

New members are always welcome

Toastmasters

Roscrea Speakers Club are back in action

Our last meeting was on Thursday, January 26 and proved to be a very enjoyable evening. Toastmaster on the night was Edel Carey who, although chairing a meeting for her first time, carried out the duties of the role excellently, showing all the confidence and experience she has gained at our club to date.

Our topics master on the night was Julie Murphy, who challenged us to speak on a given topic for two minutes. This challenges us to think and speak at the same time and with the different variety of topics always proves very enjoyable and beneficial.

The roles of gramarian, general meeting evaluator and timer were performed by Jim, Tom and Diarmuid respectively. As is normal now, our meeting was conducted under a hybrid system with Zoom.

Speeches on the night were by Siobhan Bourke, entitled 'Newly qualified nurse' and by Charles Hannon, entitled 'Long and winding road - Michelin man'.

Both speeches were positively evaluated by Teresa Ryan Fehan and Larry Lyons respectively, with both evaluators making one or two suggestions on how the speaker could improve for their next project. This is one of the ways we learn together at our club.

Our next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 9 and can as usual be attended in person in our meeting room in the Racket Hall Hotel at 8pm or via zoom link from your own home.

As we are always welcoming new members to our club please feel free to join us by whichever means you prefer and see for yourself the opportunities for personal development and growth our club can offer you. Please contact Larry on (086) 8125427 or email roscreaspeakers21@gmail.com for further info or meeting link.
