Counting continues at the Tipperary centre in Thurles

Roscrea's sitting Councillors, Shane Lee from the Lowry Team of independents and Fianna Fáil's Michael Smith look set to retain their seats in the first count as a clearer roadmap to victory emerges in the Roscrea and Templemore local electoral area.

With a projected quota of 1,708 votes after tallies concluded at 5pm in Thurles it looks like only councillors Smith and Lee will be elected in the first count.

Fianna Fáil look set to claim over 35% of the votes while the Lowry Team are anticipated to take over 43% of a projected turnout of 8,565 voters.

Lowry Team member from Templemore, Eddie Moran looks set to take the third seat and Fine Gael's Willie Kennedy for the fourth and final seat.

Fianna Fáil's Deirdre Ryan comes in for fifth place if the tallies are correct closely followed by Sinn Féin's Brendán O'Conchúir and with Labour's Jordan Lewis and Green Party candidate, Aisling Maloney coming seventh and eighth respectively.

In Thurles Independent candidate Jim Ryan looks set to top the poll, with Micheál Lowry, Sean Ryan (FF), Kay Cahill Skehan (FF) and sitting councillor Peggy Ryan (FG) taking the three remaining seats.

In Nenagh Joe Hannigan remains in front as tallies concluded and is followed by Lowry Team member Michael O'Meara, first timer Ryan O'Meara (FF), independent Seamie Morris, Labour's Louise Morgan Walsh and Damien O'Donoghue looking set to take the remaining three seats if tallies prove accurate.
