The Green party candidate in the Tullamore area in June's local elections, Liam Walsh, is calling on support from businesses in the town of Tullamore to get behind Offaly County Council's idea of the 2GoCup.

“It is great to see some of the coffee shops and the Tullamore Court Hotel leading the way with this initiative. This project is a great example of climate action as it reduces the use of single-use paper cups in the country.”

Walsh went on to say that he “knows that Tullamore Tidy Towns are 100% behind this initiative and that the participating businesses see it as a manageable step that individuals can take daily to positively impact the local environment. It would be great to see all local business on board with the long-term goal of rolling this project out countrywide”.

“This project is being led by the Climate Action Team at Offaly County Council – “it is by working together that we can bring about change” Walsh says.

Remembering that the importance of bringing re-useable cups for takeaway beverages, also highlights the availability of a more sustainable option through the 2GoCup scheme.
