Offaly young people invited to improve their Irish

Irish language enthusiast Órlaith Ní Óráin is inviting the young people of the county to her workshops in Offaly. Cumann na bhFiann is a non-profit organisation that run over 60 youth clubs nationwide through Irish on a weekly basis, including in Birr and Tullamore.

"This gives the youth the opportunity to use and improve their spoken Irish. By attending Cumann na bhFiann regularly, fluency in Irish is maintained and improved, thus normalising the use of Irish in everyday life," said Órlaith.

"It is vital that young people are given the opportunity to recognise the advantages of speaking Irish. Cumann na bhFiann takes on this challenge by providing opportunities through the Youth Club Structure and also through a variety of events throughout the year, to use Irish on a social level," continued Órlaith.

There are currently two youth clubs in Offaly:

Birr - Every Friday from 5-6:30 in St Brendan's Primary School.

Tullamore - Every Wednesday from 7:30-9 in The Charleville Community Centre.
